About

About us

Excedo is the brainchild of Nikkei, Japan’s largest media company, and the Financial Times, one of the world’s leading news organisations. At Excedo we help develop effective English communicators who are able to work confidently in a global and modern business world.

The Excedo Method™ has been extensively researched and tested across international markets. The result is a mobile first approach to learning English that focuses on active, not passive, learning. The Excedo Method™ is a unique learning experience accessed through our Excedo app.

Learners are guided step-by-step through the experience, which begins with self-study activities that present and practice key language concepts based on real-life business scenarios and video case studies. They are then guided through collaborative activities to put into practice what they have learned with another learner.

The self-study and collaborative activities are designed to prepare learners to be active and confident participants in the group classes with the Language Coach. During the group classes, they demonstrate what they have learned through active participation in business related tasks.

Requirements

We require that all teachers in our Asian Language Coach team live in an Asian time zone. This allows us to provide a more immediate service to our Asian learners, and minimises inconvenience to you since sessions will less likely take place during antisocial hours.

You must also:

  • be a qualified English language teacher
  • have experience of teaching online
  • have some professional business experience
  • be able to demonstrate mastery of English (CEFR C1/C2 level)
  • have a broadband connection
  • be prepared to teach evenings and weekends
Coach models

Our Language Coaches facilitate small groups (maximum 4) in a virtual classroom. Classes last 30 or 45 minutes. The role of the Language Coach is to encourage maximum learner interaction. All session plans and support materials are provided by Excedo.

We require our Language Coaches to commit to a minimum of 20 hours per month.  Due to varying customer demand, we cannot guarantee a minimum number of hours each month, however the maximum number of hours offered to Language Coaches each month is unlimited.

Our Language Coaches are hired on a 6-month contract with automatic renewal.

We provide a fair remuneration model which takes the dynamic of our business into consideration.
